Frequently asked questions
Recovery is unique to each individual. The speed of improvement depends on your condition and lifestyle factors. However, many people experience a noticeable reduction in pain after their initial session. Returning to a specific activity or sport is typically a longer process. It requires progressively building your capacity and strength to minimise injury risk and ensure you're adequately prepared.
No, a GP referral is not required. However, please provide any relevant documentation from your GP, consultant, or surgeon, as this will help your therapist make informed treatment decisions. For post-operative rehabilitation, we recommend obtaining surgical recommendations or contacting your consultant to ensure your safety and avoid overlooking any critical factors, even for seemingly straightforward procedures.

While gym equipment can be beneficial for some conditions, many can be effectively rehabilitated with minimal or no equipment, using common household items. The advantage of in-home physiotherapy is that we can show you how to optimise your recovery with the resources you have available. We'll also guide you in progressing or regressing exercises based on your abilities. Additionally, we can provide expert advice on adapting everyday tasks to manage your symptoms and maintain your independence.
Your comfort is our priority. However, please wear clothing that allows access to the treatment area.
For physiotherapy assessments, your therapist needs to see the area and assess joint movement. Avoid baggy clothing, as it can restrict a thorough assessment.
For massage therapy, wearing underwear is recommended. Sports bras should be avoided when treating the back, as they limit access to the skin. During treatment, you can use a towel to cover any areas not being treated for your comfort.
Yes, you can. However, we recommend a preliminary discussion to assess your needs. Treatment methods may vary, and it might be more beneficial to complete your NHS sessions before exploring additional options and setting new goals.
Some fluctuation in symptoms is completely normal. If you are concerned about the symptoms you are experiencing, don't hesitate to contact your physiotherapist. We can determine if it would be recommended to see you sooner than your next scheduled appointment, or we may be able to suggest some self-administered techniques to manage the symptoms. Either way, you are not alone, so we don't want you to suffer in silence.
That's totally fine, and we understand that things happen. We ask that you provide a minimum of 24 hours' notice if you need to reschedule your appointment. Any appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice will incur a 50% charge.
